Hi,
I have a drill down amper value coming as string and throwing error because of the quotes..
FOCFEXNAME(DIVISION=&DIVISION.QUOTEDSTRING)
....run time value

DIVISION='Business Intelligence' OR 'Country Litigation'
this throws me the error..
Is there a way to remove the OR in the Dialogue Mananger for the string
-SET ABC='Business Intelligence' OR 'Country Litigation';
Any suggestions would be appreciated..

Regards,
SAMM

Well, technically you can remove the OR from it but that would render your filter useless if you want to use it in the target .fex as:

...
WHERE field EQ &ABC;
...

I don't seem to be getting the error you describe. I created this test procedure (using the CAR table) which on the first run displays *all* countries and creates a drilldown to itself (in the HEADING) to select only ENGLAND and ITALY.

-DEFAULT &ABC='FOC_NONE';
-SET &NEW_ABC='''ENGLAND'' OR ''ITALY''';
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT
        CAR
        MODEL
BY COUNTRY
WHERE COUNTRY EQ &ABC;
HEADING
"England/Italy Only"
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=HEADING, LINE=1, FOCEXEC=car_drill(ABC=&NEW_ABC.QUOTEDSTRING), $
END

Hopefully this can give you some ideas to apply in your case.

Now, in answering your actual question here's how you could remove the OR from the variable if you still think you want to go that route:

-SET &ABC='''ENGLAND'' OR ''ITALY''';
-SET &NEW_ABC=STRREP(&ABC.LENGTH, &ABC, 4, ' OR ', 1, ' ', &ABC.LENGTH, 'A&ABC.LENGTH') ;

-TYPE &ABC
-TYPE &NEW_ABC

You can of course adjust that example to replace the OR or some other substring from &ABC with whatever value you need. Just read the documentation on STRREP and tweak the parameters accordingly.

Just make sure your new value still serves the purpose you intend for it (a filter or otherwise).
