I am trying to redirect the DIR for a folder located on a clustered server using a Fex with no luck.
I have tried....

! \\txs13420\is-webfocusapp$\relpics\dir > dir.txt
! DIR > dir.txt \\txs13420\is-webfocusapp$\relpics
! dir > dir.txt

I have also tried DOS and CMD instead of the !.

I keep getting...

EDA no data

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
JV

Have you tried

! dir {location} > {filename}

Also if you don't have &ECHO set to On or ALL, you may not see any output.

Shouldn't the command be:

-DOS dir \\txs13420\is-webfocusapp$\relpics > dir.txt

dir.txt should be created in the edatemp location for the current session, therefore if you later do:

-DOS dir dir.txt

You should see a dir.txt file in there. Obviously, if you need that file to still exist *after* your session ends, then you must have created it in a physical location other than edatemp. Something like:

-DOS dir \\txs13420\is-webfocusapp$\relpics > C:\myfiles\dir.txt

Thanks for the replies njsdn and waz.

I tried the -DOS command and I got an error, I took off the - and the error went away but I still did not get my output.

I also tried the ! location > dir.txt with no luck. I did set &echo = all and that took care of the EDA no data problem. I checked my edatemp file and it was not in there either.

Any other suggestions?

Thanks
JV

I have also tried setting up a batch job but I can't get that to run thru focus. The batch file runs fine in DOS.

Is this the right command to execute a batch file in Focus? I have also tried the SYSTEM command but not sure if I did it right.

! relbatch.bat

Which error? Could you paste the results here so we can take a look?

The EDATEMP directory is cleared at the end of the session.

Add ! DIR to the fex to see the contents.

This command creates a file in C:\ibi\apps\baseapp:

! DIR C:\PROJECTS> C:\IBI\APPS\BASEAPP\DIR.TXT

Thanks Francis, that worked.

I used ! DIR \\txs13420\is-webfocusapp$\relpics > \\txs13420\is-webfocusapp$\relpics\dir.txt
