I have received this error a number of times on a RC job that writes an XL file to the library.

Error - Insertion from library database
Symptom:

BTP1010 Microsoft SQLServer 2000 Driver for JDBC SQLServer
The log file for database 'tempdb' is full.
Back up the transaction log for the database to free up
some log space
BTP1010 Rollback insertion from library database

Problem:

ReportCaster:
Scheduled ReportCaster job failed on the log backup part only. The report
itself was successfully generated. The messages received indicated that
"The log file for database 'tempdb' is full".

Let me know if anyone had face similar issue and have resolved it.

Sounds like a DBMS issue. Transactions (inserts, updates) against the database are logged by the DBMS (DB2, for example) in its own log files as well as the ReportCaster logging its own actions in the RC log files. Have your DBA check the DBMS log files and clean them our our increase the available size.

Is it anyways related to use of a Compound Report(EXL2K) .As everything else in report caster is running fine apart from the report having Compound Report

Don't think so. If only a compound report causes the issue, that's probably just a symptom, not the real problem. You can turn on traces to see what is happening. (Traces are available for ReportCaster as well via the Configuration utility.)
