I'm sure this is an ancient thread but my searches could not find it. I downloaded the latest Application Studio (8009) today and it still requires Java 1.6_25. The last release of Java 1.6 was 1.6u45. Java 1.7 is at release 65 and Java 1.8 is the current download from Oracle.

I know there have to be many incompatibilities for IBI to keep this ancient JDK/JRE as a required version.

Any idea when a current, more secure version of Java will be the requirement?

So I will reply to my own post. I had had a frustrating afternoon attempting to upgrade my AppStudio. The problem I experienced was due to two factors.

First I did not have my JAVA_HOME and JDK_HOME set to 32-bit Java installations. This morning I changed these values to a Java 1.7_67 32-bit installation and things are installing fine. My bad for not reading the instructions yet another time in more detail.

Second, the error messages I received from the IBI installation process were misleading. The installation process could not find a 32-bit Java in those environment variables; thus, it set the 1.6_25 as a mandatory installation. The problem was that it would not recognize the 1.6_25 after it installed it.

So, take away's are: 1) IBI apps will run with current javqa (at least 1.7) but only 32-bits, 2) reread the installation docs even if you know you think you remember what to do.

Sorry for the earlier misguided rant, IBI.
