I have a report in excel (ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K) but there are too many records. How would I get it to output to a text file? Thanks.

Brian,

The simple answer is ON TABLE HOLD FORMAT ALPHA.

The more complex issue is where you want to put it. It would help if you gave more information including your environment specifications which you can store in your signature in your profile.

There is an option to use another form of excel which is for the office 2007. You are stuck with the spreadsheet limits if the report data is to be pulled into a spreadsheet. I also played with putting small heading lines to get more data displayed.

Excel before 2007 only accepts 64K rows.
Excel 2007 accepts a million, which should get rid of most size limitations.

GamP, can WebFOCUS generate an Excel spreadsheet with more than 64K rows? If so, then the issue was with Excel versions prior to Excel 2007.

Who wants an excel spreadsheet with a million rows?

there is no way to handle it.

try to break it down into different pages based upon the first by field

BYTOC=ON (I think)
