How do you skip a line between the lines generated by two ON BY-FIELD RECOMPUTE?

I need to insert a blank line between the last subtotal line and the grand total line.

The code is similar to:

TABLE FILE ...
SUM FIELD_X FIELD_Y FIELD_Z
BY FIELD_A
BY FIELD_B
BY FIELD_C
ON FIELD_A RECOMPUTE
ON FIELD_B RECOMPUTE
END

Thank you.

I tried these 2 techniques and subfoot, but they do not put a blank line between the last subtotal line and the grand total line.

Any other suggestions?

I came up with this workaround, but I'd like to find a better, if there is one.

DEFINE FILE EMPDATA
DUMMY/A1=' ';
END
TABLE FILE EMPDATA
SUM
COMPUTE compute_2/D12.2 = SALARY * 7 / 5;
SALARY
BY LOWEST DIV
BY DUMMY NOPRINT
BY DEPT
BY LOWEST LASTNAME

ON DIV RECOMPUTE AS '*TOTAL'
ON DUMMY RECOMPUTE AS '*TOTAL DUMMY'
ON DEPT RECOMPUTE AS '*TOTAL DEPT'

WHERE DIV EQ 'CE';

ON TABLE SET PAGE-NUM NOLEAD
ON TABLE NOTOTAL
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT HTML
ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
INCLUDE = endeflt,
$
TYPE=SUBTOTAL,
BY=2,
COLOR='WHITE',
BACKCOLOR='WHITE',
$
ENDSTYLE
END

Try this:

SET PRINTPLUS=ON
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
        RETAIL_COST
        DEALER_COST
COMPUTE MARKUP/D10 = RETAIL_COST - DEALER_COST;
BY COUNTRY
BY CAR
ON COUNTRY RECOMPUTE
ON COUNTRY SUBFOOT
" "
ON CAR RECOMPUTE
ON CAR SUBFOOT
" "
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT HTML
END

Works in PDF too.

Oh, never mind my code before. I just saw your sample code with what you actually wanted to obtain. I thought you needed a blank line between each total -and- before the grand total.

njsden,

Your technique puts the blank line between each recompute line. I need it only between the last recompute line for country and the total line.

Thank you.

Yes John, sorry. I was misled by the title of your post and thought you indeed needed a blank line between the RECOMPUTES ... anyhow, I don't think there's a better way to achieve what you need than by using a dummy support field as you already did.
