hello,

I have a number of reports that users want to freeze the headings of their spreadsheet.

I found that there is a HFREEZE option but I think that is only used in HTML.

Thanks,
Kelly

I don't think it's documented to work, but I was recently surprised that it does. I did find a certain case where it wasn't a good idea, but I can't remember what the case is!

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT
     CAR.CARREC.MODEL
     CAR.BODY.BODYTYPE
     CAR.BODY.SEATS
BY LOWEST CAR.COMP.CAR
HEADING
"Testing HFREEZE"
" "
ON TABLE SET PAGE-NUM NOLEAD
ON TABLE NOTOTAL
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K
ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=REPORT,
     HFREEZE=TOP,
$
ENDSTYLE
END

Just tested:
7.1.6: (FOC3209) UNKNOWN KEYWORD IN STYLESHEET FILE AT LINE 2: HFREEZE
7.6.6: No Error, doesn't freeze
7.6.12: No Error, doesn't freeze
7.7.05: Freezes.

I guess it came in between 7.6.12 and 7.7.05.

Freeze Headings in XLSX

Hi Waz,

Did you test with EXL2K or EXL07?

Doesn't freeze with EXL07 format in 8.0.0.6 but then I am not sure if this is by design or just not implemented yet.

Hello,

Yes I got it to work when using EXL2K but like Tony A said that it isn't working when using XLSX as a format type.

Does anyone know how to make it work using XLSX (excel 2007)?

I'm on dev studio version 8.0.0.5

Thanks,
Kelly

I used Francis' code, EXL2K.

And of course, if it undocumented, then it won't be supported, I guess.

At best lodge a case with Tech Support and ask the question.

Hi All,

I'm currently using Release 8.2 Version 01M and this still doesn't seem to work in XLSX. Anyone know the status of this case/feature?

Is an excel template the main/best workaround for this? Anyone have a good example?

Thanks

Take a look at the document WebFOCUS XLSX/EXL07 Format Supported Features Release Roadmap (Updated February 2017 and you need to login to Tech Support). In v8.2.01 and newer, all features originally available in EXL2K are now available in XLSX plus a few more. Other new features are under evaluation.

Freezing headings and column titles was never supposed to work - it's not documented anywhere. You should open a New Feature Request. When I discovered that it did work I never tested on EXL07 (XLSX) because that format was not ready for prime time.
