We are just starting our migration from 5.3.3 to 7.6.4 running under Windows Server 2003 with IIS/Tomcat. We are doing self-service applications.

The variable &REMOTE_USER is not being passed up to our FOCEXEC. How do we get &REMOTE_USER into our dialogue manager?

Jim,

If this was working on your old environment, look at file site.wfs in the server wfs etc folder, you should see coding for &REMOTE_USER.

This should help as well:
Pass the URL of the current WF request in a DM variable

is &remote_user just a cgi variable or can you configure it for WFServlet as well?

In your old environment, you probably didn't have tomcat as your servlet engine.
You'll also have to add a little flag in your tomcat's server.xml file.
In this file (located in program files\apache ...\tomcat..\conf directory) for the connection with port 8009, add this: tomcatAuthentication="false"
This instructs tomcat to just pass on what it is given, without doing any checks on its own.
And now you should ne able to again use the &REMOTE_USER cgi variable syntax like you were used to.
Hope this helps.
