We have a system of 100 users where some users would occasionally pick up the wrong result for the queries they requested. Their query allows them to select an employee and they should get a report for that employee. In 3 reported incidents, some user gets the wrong report. No one was able to recreate the same problem twice.

Can anyone tell me how WebFOCUS generates PDF reports. Does it cache a PDF file first before sending it to a client, or does it directly send the results as a PDF mimetype?

One hunch is that WebFOCUS is mixing up the reports, sending the wrong one to the client.

Does anyone have encountered the same problem?

In laymen's terms:

Each WebFOCUS request is handled by a different server agent using its' own temporary space, therefore there should be no mixup, unless your program has a FILEDEF that does not make the FILEDEF'd file unique to the particular run (eg. your FILEDEF is c:\temp\report.pdf - this will make each running agent write the file in c:\temp\report.pdf thus potentially clobbering another user's request).

Is it possible you have an:

APP HOLD filename

in your code, where all the user's would be writing a hold file out to the same place, then creating the PDF file from the HOLD file.

If so, remove the APP HOLD command.
Just a thought!

I had the same results when zipping up Excel files before sending them out. I never got a resolution and finally quit zipping them to solve them problem. Are you zipping output before sending?
