Hello everyone! I'm a very green WebFOCUS developer/admin in need of assistance. We are attempting to integrate an automation tool, Automic, to run some of our schedules. The need for this is because Automic runs jobs that are downstream but critical for the WebFOCUS report schedule to run, and then when complete, Automic continues its workflow and runs upstream processes after the WebFOCUS report is complete. This is how it has to be as this is the automation tool my company uses. I did a search for Automic on the forums that proved fruitless.

Automic uses API calls and I've been given the Report Caster Legacy API developer's reference and I believe what I'm looking to do is create a program in Java (S21_run)that Automic would call to run whichever schedule is needed.

Does anyone have any experience in this?

Is it possible for this Java program to reside off of the WebFOCUS client (reside on the Automic server) and login and run the schedules? Or would this need to be on the client itself?

My apologies for my ignorance on the subject and thank you in advance! We have opened a case with IBI but I wanted to also reach out here.

- Curtis

I would look at RESTful Web Services. I think a lot easier to use and should integrate fine. Of course you have to license it.
