Newbie question...

I need to bring in a synonym twice to get a set of results, is this doable in WebFOCUS? When I attempted to do this I did not get the results I wanted.

Trudy,

I do this constantly in my Business Views. I have a RF_MASTER_CODE table that needs to be joined to almost every table I have. When you bring in your second instance of the synonym, under the properties, you need to make the SEGMENT name unique. As long as the segment name is unique, you are fine to add the synonym as many times as you want. When you want to use the field in a report you would write it as such:

 MASTER_NAME.SEGMENT_NAME.FIELD

Which version of Webfocus you are using?

I have done this many a times in 7.7.x and 8.x.

You can add "reference to existing synonym" again and again to include the same master file in the cluster synonym.

Thanks,

Ramkumar.
