Is it possible to send an exl07 macro in excel output WITHOUT the use of a template?

Because of disconnected users, access to the template file isn't always an option, and so we are trying to get away from them.

Thanks in advance.

Not sure I understand the question. The template file resides on the reporting server, how is it not available no matter how disconnected the user is.

Not an excel expert- I just inherited the support issue. My understanding is that to run the macro in the downloaded spreadsheet, which was made available via the template file, the user needs to have access to the template file. Is this NOT the case?

Thanks

When using an MS Excel template within WebFOCUS, the template file is used as a "frame" within which WebFOCUS builds the output worksheets. When WebFOCUS output is directed at a "sheetnumber", the output is used to replace that sheet - hence preformatting a worksheet within a template file is not good as it is over written.

EXL07 output should have a file extension of "xlsm" if you wish the macros (if any) to remain with the compiled output.

Very often the issue is that the file extension is changed to "xlsx" and MS Excel very kindly removes the macros.
