So, is it possible to Dynamically Read an Excel File that resides on a Shared Network Drive. That's what I need.

The bottom line: I need to be able to report from one (for starters) Excel file which resides on a shared drive. This / these Excel files will be over-written periodically on that shared drive and the synonym needs to read whatever is currently in this/these files, picking up the latest version.

The user is an Advanced User without App Studio. So this needs to be done from the domain tree as displayed in the WebFOCUS Welcome Page at http://MyURL:8080/ibi_apps/ with access to their domain and app folder..

Your thoughts, preferably your solutions?

APP MAP syntax will work within the fex... You can read directly from the file on the share...

Hey Doug hows it going? My first thought is, what about the Excel adapter? I've never used it but I took a peek and from the Report Console, Adapters, Available, Sequential and Indexed folder you should see the Excel (via direct retrieval) adapter.

Thanks Guys,

APP MAP: I have the full path. But, how's that tie into the synonym (syntax)?

Excel (via direct retrieval): I get a "Session Lost, agent crashed of killed" message when attempting that. (BTW: Besides this, I'm doing fine. And You?)

Thank you Mr. Tom, Music... I've RTFM, LOL, and tried everything. As it turns out, it looks like we're behind in our releases. Moving to 82M now.
