In a fex file whenever i am trying to display a string "-SET &&CONFLVL_NAME_VAL_E= 'c- < 75% xyz';" ,in header section, in excel format its throwing error "[FOC406) THE FIELDNAME IS NOT RECOGNIZED: 75% BYPASSING TO END OF COMMAND " .
"Confidence Level: <+0> &CONFLVL_NAME_VAL_E"-before execution.

"Confidence Level: <+0> c- < 75% xyz"- after execution
the problem is with the '<' symbol. how can i overcome this problem [with '>' the string works fine ).

Please help me out.

The < symbol used in a heading is an indication that a field is to be embedded in the heading and the next string indicates the name of that field. You might try putting that whole string [including the < symbol) into a DEFINEd field and embedding that field in the heading instead.

Hi Darin,

Thanks for you reply,
I have tried this option. It prints just a .(dot) in the excel report.
as well as i tried in html also it is printing me .(dot) only.

can you give some other idea.

Santhu,

What Darin is telling you is to use something like:

DEFINE FILE CAR
HH/A40 WITH COUNTRY='c- < 75% xyz';
END
TABLE FILE CAR
HEADING
"Confidence Level:<HH"
SUM SALES
BY COUNTRY
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT EXL2K
END

Thanks Danny for ur code.

what ever u posted the code is working fine.
when there is no data for the criteria you selected i.e 0 Records form table file then you will not be able to dispaly the value in header.

Second point is:
if table file has 45,000 records, by using define file perfomance gets effected.

what do you say?

So, you use: SET EMPTYREPORT=ON, and yes the value won't be in the HEADING.

1. Can you use « instead?

2. If you don't link the header field to a field in the database (like I did), then there is no reason for performance to be affected. This field will be calculated once and has no effect on the retrieval. If it does, you should open a case with IBI.
