is it possible to ave a value in the subtotal? resulting in the ave value of the fields.

Thank you so much for your help!

Also, how do you round down or just drop the decimal after 2 instead of rounding up?

Yes, average in a SUBTOTAL is possible. And the space immediately after the AVE. and SUM. prefixes is required.

TABLE FILE CAR
 SUM RETAIL_COST DEALER_COST
 BY COUNTRY
 BY CAR
ON COUNTRY SUBTOTAL AVE. RETAIL_COST SUM. DEALER_COST AS 'Average / Total for'
END

I figured it out,

What you need to do is set it outside of the report

in the view where you see the defines and the report and the red diamonds where you can select the multiple different options click other

then add the statement

SET SUMMARYLINES = NEW
