We are upgrading from 5.3.2 to 7.6.8. I am having a problem finding a JAVA version that is supported by both WF versions. I am currently using 1.4.2_12 which IBI suggested. I can use DEV STUDIO 7.6.8 and still use MRE 5.3, but in MRE 7.6.8 I have no scroll bars and can not even arrow down. The last version IBI suggested is not available for download at Sun. Any suggestions?

I noticed this as well when we upgraded from 5.3.6 to 7.1.6. However, I found that I could click on a folder/report that I COULD see and then use the arrow down key to scroll to the bottom of the list. The same behavior does NOT seem to occur in Firefox, so I blamed IE. I have not come across anything to fix the problem, unfortunately. My users have just had to deal with it and I've had no comments after the first couple of weeks.

Now if you cannot scroll AT ALL, that's a different story. Try Firefox and see if that works for you. Did not test Chrome or other browsers.

Regards,

Darin

You should use 1.5 as a minimum with 7.6.x. Remember that you can load 1.6 JRE on you desktop to get your MRE applet stuff working.

I had found that with Java 1.6 that I can use the up/down arrows to scroll in 5.3, but since that is my current production environment all I can say is What a pain. On the other hand scroll bars do not even appear on 7.6.8 with Java 1.4. I haven't tried Firefox, but it isn't compatible with another of our systems. I can't believe that IBI doesn't have a better solution to this. Well maybe I can believe it.

Open a case and verify that 7.6.8 is certified for 1.4. I do not believe it is. If it is not, then consider yourself lucky to have anything working.

Every company who supports Java has the same issues. You have to make a decision to move ahead, or stay on an older tool set. Every piece of software represented in your signature has gone through - and will continue to go through - the same problems.

dhagen,

I had opened a case before I ever posted this. Tech Support is bouncing me from one version to another and I don't have time for that. I am about to leave 1.4.2_12 and use Dev Studio for testing. The other alternative is to install a newer version of Java on a different machine and test from there.

After much testing by IBI there was no good resolution. WF 5.3 allows you to use the up/down arrows with JAVA 1.6. I did discover that if you used the arrows and clicked on a domain that the scroll bars would then work to that point. Also Dev Studio 7.6.8 appears to work with Java 1.4.2_12.
