Hai all..

I want to know the number of rows from a hold file. this is the sample code

Table file A
print *
on table hold as temp1
end

Table file B
print a1 b1
where condition;
end

I want to get the number of rows in the hold file temp1 and use it in where condition in table file B. how can I do that? I am a starter in webfocus. I guess i should use run and read commands and use amper variable to store it.

thanks all..

Try this extra code.

quote:
Table file A
print *
on table hold as temp1
end
-* new code
-SET &NUMLINES = &LINES;
-* new code
Table file B
print a1 b1
-* changed code
where &NUMLINES EQ 12;
-* changed code
end

Enigma

Your example is a puzzle and the first answer does not solve it.

Please try to be a bit more specific, for exmple by using the CAR tables.

Frank,

Did you try it. The -SET &LINES =&LINES; gives you the number of lines in your HOLD file

But, what does this mean?
quote:
where &NUMLINES EQ 12;

Francis,

That line was just an example of how to use the value in &NUMLINES in a WHERE clause, nothing more.
