From our intranet application we have made a link to start WF with the following URL
http://amskemp28/ibi_apps/Controller?WORP_REQUEST_TYPE=...IEW&WORP_MPV=ai_gbv&
The first attempt always gives me a http error.
A refresh (F5) or a second request works well.
Can I avoid this error?

the error text:
"An HTTP 500 error has been returned when attempting to communicate with the WebFOCUS web components. The application server log contains information on why this error has occurred. Contact your WebFOCUS Administrator or Information Builders Customer Support Services for further assistance. "

So you're trying to lauch a particular public or group view using the public userid signon?

Not seen the HTTP 500 error when I launch the public view but I do get it occasionally running fexes or html files from dashboard.

Check out the Tech support pages for HTTP 500 errors, there's been a few!

Forgot to mention that some of these errors when accessing the dashboard views are caused by corrupt or damaged personal.xml files. You can delete them as dashboard will recreate them afresh on next login but you will of course lose any personalisation.

Hi Frank,

Has this issue been resolved? Many thanks to Tony's suggestions.

Can you please try the following to see if there is a more technical and detailed error message behind the HTTP 500 message? Trying setting the following:

Set Internet Explorer -> Tools -> Options -> Advanced -> Do not show friendly HTTP errors to be checked. Re-ran ASP page. Received the error

Let us know how it works for you. Smiler

Cheers,

Kerry

Thanks Kerry, but that is impossible here...the IT boys treat me like a normal user, no rights to do such things.
I think we have to live with it.

I'm not running a public view, but just bypassing some parts of the startup screen.
I try to let the user start it's own start screen without the selection option out of several.

I am in the same boat. Our users book mark the URL and they get the same behaviour. I opened a case with IBI a while and was told that it is now fixed in 7.6
