something like "Reportname_DDMMYYHHMMSS".txt

My code

I`m saving report as "report name.txt" in the report caster

Look at page 176 in the report caster document.

Hi Tony,
Thanks for your reply,

I tried this one earlier, but my report name is not converted to date, it is simple saving as "Reportname_&YYMD._&TOD.txt" amper variables are not replacing with values.
May be I`m missing something here, Please advise me.
Thanks,

Sounds like you have amper-variable substitution disabled in your ReportCaster configuration.

Did you download and save a copy of the above document? If so did you look at it? Look in chapter 2 Report Caster Configuration - there is a configuration item mentioned - I've not used it myself and I do not have RC available to me - but then I'd be doing all your work for you Smiler

Happy reading Wink clue - you are looking for a setting for "amper variables".

Hi Tony,

mine is WebFocus 8.002, I`m not finding Option to select "Use legacy behavior for parameterized schedule settings", the document you send me is for WebFocus 8.1, I did not find any other option than this in the documents,
Can you please advise me.

Thanks,

It may be that the use of variables wasn't available until a later release than you have. Contact support to have it confirmed.

That question also can best be answered by support. It's what they do.

Before we had 8.1, we were on 7.7 and that did not have the option to use amper variables in RC. It's quite possible that this feature is not available in 8.0 either.

In fact, that's why support pointed us to this option so that we could disable it. We had schedules that contained ampersands that were not variables, which resulted in errors in our schedule logs (similar to "Variable &WESSON not found"). Those errors got us stumped for a while... In the end, we just corrected the schedules so that we didn't lose the ability to use amper variables in new schedules.

Pending the outcome of that support call, you may be able to use a parameter for the tasks you schedule. In the task panel there is an option to set parameters to certain values. I can't tell you if or how that can solve your problem without putting time in it that I don't really have, though.
