I am looking to define a virtual field that combines a StartDate field (YYY-MM-DD) with a StartTime field (HH24:MM:SS) into one field. Then do the same with StopDate and StopTime fields. Finally I want to be able to substract StopDateTime from StartDateTime to get ElaspeTime in DD:HH:MM:SS format. Any Suggestions?

As Waz said try the H functions - specifically HINPUT for part 1 and HDIFF for part 2. Chapter 7 of the the WF77dmfunctions.pdf is a good starting place.
