Hello. the little issue i'm having is, when i do a cnt. on an across field instead of showing up as my "NODATA" character i get 0s.

what can i do to fix it?
i don't want to have "--" instead of all my 0 values

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
CNT.SALES
OVER CAR
BY MODEL
ACROSS COUNTRY

ON TABLE SET NODATA '--'
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=REPORT, SQUEEZE=ON, GRID=OFF, WRAP=ON, FONT='ARIAL', SIZE=9, ORIENTATION=LANDSCAPE,$
ENDSTYLE
END

You "get 0s" and you "don't want to have "--" instead of all my 0 values". What DO you want to have displayed?

This will give you blanks instead of zeros:

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
CNT.SALES/I8S
OVER CAR
BY MODEL
ACROSS COUNTRY

ON TABLE SET NODATA '--'
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=REPORT, SQUEEZE=ON, GRID=OFF, WRAP=ON, FONT='ARIAL', SIZE=9, ORIENTATION=LANDSCAPE,$
ENDSTYLE
END

MadamZuZu,

I think this is what you require:

DEFINE FILE CAR
CCOUNT/D6 = 1;
END

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
CCOUNT
OVER CAR
BY MODEL
ACROSS COUNTRY

ON TABLE SET NODATA '--'
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=REPORT, SQUEEZE=ON, GRID=OFF, WRAP=ON, FONT='ARIAL', SIZE=9, ORIENTATION=LANDSCAPE,$
ENDSTYLE
END

Just so that it is understood, when you count a field then you will always get a numeric and never a null.

If I ask you the question "How many real field values do you have? Give the answer as a numeric." and all of the field values are nulls, you should reply "zero". Does this help in understanding why you have zeroes?

hi Smiler
everything is now wokring, however when i do a PCT. on a field i get a NODATA character instead of a NULL.
which is what i need, i'm just curious as to why it works for .PCT but not for .CNT Smiler

DEFINE FILE CAR
CCOUNT/D6 = 1;
END

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM
CCOUNT
OVER PCT.DEALER_COST WITHIN MODEL
BY MODEL
ACROSS COUNTRY

ON TABLE SET NODATA '--'
END
