Hi All,

I have created a visualization (Info-assist+) for bar chart and now i want to show top 5 cars by sales (using car sample file) but I am unable to apply limit in the visualization , Limit option is disabled . Is this any configuration issue with my machine or we can not limit the data points in visualizations.

I think that's by design. You can still sort but in visualization mode, the end user can determine what part of the chart they want to include or exclude by brushing the mouse over the bars they want to keep.

Still not an elegant solution, but is that what you're looking for (or similar to this) ?

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM RETAIL_COST
BY COUNTRY
BY CAR
ON TABLE HOLD AS TMP FORMAT FOCUS
END
-RUN

TABLE FILE TMP
SUM RETAIL_COST
BY HIGHEST RETAIL_COST NOPRINT
BY TOTAL COMPUTE RNK /I2 = RNK + 1; NOPRINT
BY COUNTRY
BY CAR

ON TABLE SET PAGE-NUM NOLEAD
ON TABLE NOTOTAL
ON TABLE SET BYDISPLAY ON

You could do the aggration before:

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM SALES
BY HIGHEST 5 TOTAL SALES
BY MODEL
ON TABLE HOLD AS BLABLA FORMAT FOCUS INDEX MODEL
END

And inner join to it with your visualisation. Note that this migth have some performance challanges.

Test: WF 8.2
Prod: WF 8.2
DB: Progress, REST, IBM UniVerse/UniData, SQLServer, MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle, Greenplum, Athena.

Chaudhary

Visualizations a different paradigm and are meant for data mining if you really want to apply a limit without creating a hold file first then just do a chart

Thank you for using Focal Point!
