I ran into an issue where after I made changes to a portal using the Portal Design Mode (Portal Editor) I would not see the changes take effect when I viewed the portal.

I eventually determined that the only way to make sure you see the changes immediately is to Remove Customizations. You can do this by right clicking the Portal in question in the Resource Tree and choosing Remove Customizations from the context menu.

I think that this means that you will have to inform your users to 'Remove Customizations' whenever edits are made, unless someone else has a better solution.

This may come naturally to many of you, but it took me quite awhile to figure out this was the issue. Hopefully this will save someone some time.

(This issue was submitted as a new feature request (to notify the developer about this behavior) and denied, simply posting here in-case someone runs into the same issue since it's not documented as far as I know.)

I have come across the same problem. Apparently IBI is aware of some very aggressive bullet-proof caching... I just cannot understand why the case was denied, other than the fact that it shouldn't have need labelled as a "new feature request" but a "bug".

My work-around when I got frustrated was to save as a different name, then delete the old one, open the renamed one, then save as the original name. I don't have a clue if customization was kept (I was building a new BIP.)

I'm not sure why they aren't resolving it either, really. It's neither Documented or intuitive.

You might be on to something w/ it not being sent to the right department for handling though.

To go a little further on this...

We have noticed this as well. Style updates to portals where a user has custimization capibilities will not take unless they remove customizations. However we have the portal set as the default welcome page and when you try to remove customizations from the portal link on the menu bar it does not complete the action. Remove customizations only seems to be effective from the welcome page.

Also, We found that if a page is locked edits/updates to the page are seen by users with out having to remove customizations.

I had something similar, where we will put up a panel with text in it for like a Message of the Day.

After I removed it, a user still could see it a month later. Tried everything in the user's browser but still could not remove it. It was gone in my browser.

I had to delete the user account, then let the system autoadd the user account back in and it was gone.
