I have DEFINE elements at the start of the .fex that I want to carry through to the last report in .fex. I have multiple DEFINE's in the .fex and I want them all to carry through to the end.

A defined field will be carry over if it is "holded" or will "exist" for the same file such as :
DEFINE FILE CAR
DEF /A10 = IF COUNTRY EQ 'W GERMANY' OR 'JAPAN' THEN 'WEST' ELSE 'EAST';
END

TABLE FILE CAR
SUM SEATS
BY DEF
HEADING
"FROM DEFINE"
END
-RUN

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT MODEL
      DEF
BY COUNTRY
ON TABLE HOLD AS TMP1
END
-RUN

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT SEATS
      DEF
BY COUNTRY
BY CAR
HEADING
"FROM ANOTHER TABLE FILE ON SAME FILE"
END
-RUN

TABLE FILE TMP1
PRINT *
HEADING
"FROM HOLD FILE"
END
-RUN

WF versions : Prod 8.2.04M gen 33, Dev 8.2.04M gen 33, OS : Windows, DB : MSSQL, Outputs : HTML, Excel, PDF

Consider "DEFINE FILE CAR ADD" when using multiple DEFINEs. ADD will add the DEFINE to the previous DEFINE. All previous DEFINEs are cleared without the ADD.
SET PAGE = NOLEAD
DEFINE FILE CAR
DEF1/A10 = IF COUNTRY EQ 'W GERMANY' OR 'JAPAN' THEN 'WEST' ELSE 'EAST';
END
TABLE FILE CAR
SUM SEATS BY DEF1
HEADING
"'DEF1' IS FROM DEFINE"
END
-RUN
DEFINE FILE CAR ADD
DEF2/A10 = DECODE SEATS (2 'COUPE' 4 'SEDAN' ELSE 'OTHER' ) ;
END
TABLE FILE CAR
"'DEF2' IS FROM DEFINE ADD"
PRINT MODEL DEF1 DEF2 BY COUNTRY
ON TABLE HOLD AS TMP1
END
-RUN
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT SEATS DEF1 DEF2 BY COUNTRY
BY CAR
HEADING
"FROM ANOTHER TABLE FILE ON SAME FILE"
END
-RUN
TABLE FILE TMP1
PRINT *
HEADING
"FROM HOLD FILE"
END

Just curious what are in the defines? Wondering if using SET and amper variables would be an option?
