Is there a way to have column titles with multiple lines have different colors each line?

Thank you,

John

John,
You could actually put them on separate lines and then use stylesheet option to define the colors.

" column heading line 1"
" column heading line 2"

Alan, could you modify this simple focexec to show the syntax of your technique?

TABLE FILE EMPDATA
    PRINT SALARY
    BY DIV
    BY DEPT
    BY LASTNAME AS 'Last,Name'
END

Thank you,

John

These replies seem to be doing different colours of report headings, not different colours of column titles.

This gives a problem lining up the headings with the data for HTML output.

We have a solution for formatting the individual rows of column titles but it involves merging the column title text with the data and is quite complicated.

I'll wait to see if there are any elegant replies before submitting our method.

Bob,
There is no real problem lining up the headings. You can use Tom's "HEADALIGN=BODY" or you can use the alignment grid in the painter.

Thank you, Tom!

Now, how do you get the page heading to still remain centered?

Thanks, Tom. COLSPAN is what I needed.

IBI's classes don't go into stylesheet declarations and properties, otherwise, I would not have had to ask all these stylesheet-related questions.

There, there, Buckaroo...

Your assistance is appreciated!

Next question:

Continuing with your solution, how can we get text on the first line of the column titles to span 2 column titles on the second column title line, such as 'Acme Company':

      Acme Company         Last   Job
Division      Department   Name   Title

Thanks again,

John

You can always just use a CSS file.
/* column.css */
.first {
color:#f00;
}
.second {
color:#0f0;
}
and in the focexec:
SET CSSURL = ../approot/baseapp/column.css
TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT COUNTRY AS '<span class="first">The</span>,<span class="second">Country</span>'
END
