When I run a report and my results come back in Excel format, I cannot use the save button to save the report to my PC. Clicking on the Save icon in the Excel button does nothing.
Any ideas?

On the top line of the browser, click on file, save as, change the type to xls and point where you want the file to go and give it a name.

In PDF you have to use the PDF save option, Excel you have to use the browser File/Save As.

The thing is the returned file is called an IBI...EXE file that becomes the sheet for part of the processing.

If I do that, then I am prompted with a "Enter Network Password" box that wants me to login to the Webfocus Server PC.

OOPS,

Well, maybe I should have asked how you were executing the request first. I'm already logged on when this occurs in MRE.

(re saving xls)

We are running from our Dashboard so it's MRE.

In windows XP, go to your documents folder, tools, folder options, file types, extension XLS, advanced button, and deselect "browse in same window". This will open the file in Excel instead of the browser.

Another option that came up in our area, not me personally as I'm not in dashboard much yet anyway.

Yesterday we had a situation where we could not save an Excel spreadsheet to the local drive. This was while we were in Dashboard and running an Excel report. The solution is to run the program and then to select "SAVE" instead of "OPEN"; (when prompted after the program has run). You can specify any local or network drive and directory and file name. After the save is complete, the system again prompts to see if you want to "OPEN the report"

Of course lately I notice if I save it I don't get prompted to open, but that could be settings issues as well.

I did that try that approach and unfortunately I still get the server login dialog box. If I can cancel this prompt then I am able to save the Spreadsheet. I minor nuicance for me but I can image the help desk support calls on that one.

I have my users doing that already. I tell them to open the spreadsheet and have a look and then re-run and select save. Ugly solution having to run a report twice.
There must be a better way.

Out of curiosity, aren't the Dashboard users signed on to the server? Or is this a 'public' area. I'll be honest, dashboard is something I've had training on but not set up yet in the real world.

Each user signs on with their own id but there is also a server side id and password in the background when running reports.

Have you opened a case with IB on this one. I have a feeling they have some background activity going on for which you are unaware. At this point we don't have background log on to app server, just to the DB2 connection engine.

Does your background logon procedure logoff when fex is completed?
