I ran this code in both 7.6.4 and 8.0.9 and got different format results...webfocus 8 is adding a "V" after the alpha formats. Does anyone have any ideas on why? :

-SET &ECHO=ALL;

ENGINE SQLORA SET OPTIMIZATION ON
ENGINE SQLORA SET OPTIFTHENELSE ON

ENGINE SQLORA SET DEFAULT_CONNECTION BWP
SQL SQLORA PREPARE SQLOUT FOR
select '100' MANDT, MATERIAL, SOLD_TO SOLDTO, SHIP_TO SHIPTO, "/BIC/ZCIDLPLNT" IDPLANT,
"/BIC/ZCPRIPLNT" PRMPLANT, "/BIC/ZCBACPLNT" BACKUP, "/BIC/ZCIDLPLNT" PLANT

from "SAPBWP".ZRLSLSBB
where FISCPER >= '2015001'
AND SOLD_TO IN ('C2601','C4586','C4711','0001397434','0001416356','0001416625')
END
-RUN
TABLEF FILE SQLOUT
PRINT
MANDT
MATERIAL
SOLDTO
SHIPTO
IDPLANT
PRMPLANT

ON TABLE HOLD AS HOLD
END
-RUN

What is the DATA_TYPE in Oracle?

Is it VARCHAR2?

If so, it not so much that WF 8.x is adding a 'V', as WF 8.x is creating a format that closely matches what Oracle has.

I started with the 7.7 Oracle adapter, so I'm not sure about 7.6, but it might be possible that 'A' was the closest format match in that release.

Data_Type in Oracle is a "VARCHAR2" .
is there any way to control that so the hold will remain the same as 7.6.4 version? This is a fairly big issue since we are joining to various tables and when joining an "A10V" to a "A10" key in a table the join now fails.

Take a look at the setting of VARCHAR.

ENGINE SQLORA SET VARCHAR ON is by default.

Maybe setting this to OFF, will get your code to behave like it did in 7.6.

David, Thanks for your help. I made the change to a test program and it worked. So I went ahead and added to the Server Profile and that seemed to take care of all the issues.
