We have a page built in Page Designer (8.2.02) that contains a custom fex as a widget (-HTMLFORM containing bootstrap elements). There are four filters that this widget and the rest of the widgets rely on. The other four widgets are charts that were built using IA and reload perfectly when the user changes the filter selected. The custom fex does not update on filter change, yet it contains the same filters as the IA charts. I thought that this was built into Page Designer where it runs the javascript needed to update the fex, but apparently not. Does anyone know an easy way to have a custom fex update on filter change?

Side Note: The custom widget contains a HOLD FILE where we are reading the values to variables. The HOLD file is where the filters come into play for this custom widget.

Sorry, I don't understand exactly what is happening.

So are the variable values from the Page Designer being passed to the HOLD FILE?

Or is the HOLD FILE passing values to the variables?

At the top of your custom fex add the following and run your page
-? &
-EXIT

Verify that your fex do receive the variable value.
If not, look in the Page Designer under the Requests & Data Sources to see if your custom widget has its parameters resolved (linked to the proper control).

I set the -? & in the fex and it looks like the four variables in question are not showing up. I am not sure where "Requests and Data Sources" is when you edit a page in Page Designer.

Here is an overview of what we are creating.

-*Include that contains the HOLD file and the four filters in question.
These four WHERE statements below are used in this fex and the other 4 fexes on the Page and they are the top level filters that the users can select on the page.
When the user changes one of these filters, all fexes update except for the one below.
The format of the WHERE statements are the same in all fexes.
Only difference is this one has an -HTMLFORM and the other four are out of the box charts using IA.

-*****INCLUDE*****
TABLE FILE tablename
SUM sum1
BY by1
WHERE DESC EQ &VAR1.(OR(FIND DESC IN TABLE1 |FORMAT=A40V)).Desc:.;
WHERE FILE_DESC EQ &VAR2.(OR(FIND FILE_DESC IN TABLE2 |FORMAT=A40V)).File Desc:.;
WHERE CUSTOMER EQ &VAR3.(OR(FIND CUSTOMER IN TABLE3 |FORMAT=A100)).Customer:.;
WHERE ITEM EQ &VAR4.(OR(FIND ITEM IN TABLE4 |FORMAT=A100V)).Item:.;
ON TABLE HOLD AS holdfilename
END
-RUN

-READFILE holdfilename
-DEFAULTH &sum1 = 0;
-DEFAULTH &Weekly_sum1 = 0;
-SET &Weekly_sum1 = &sum1;
-CLOSE holdfilename

-*****END INCLUDE*****

-HTMLFORM BEGIN
<html>
<body>

<p>Week !IBI.AMP.WEEK_;</p>
!IBI.AMP.Weekly_sum1;

</body>
</html>
-HTMLFORM END
