Hi There

I didn't find any thread related to my issue. I am working with Infoassist. I would like to create/define a field from a value in the filter section.

I know its working to display a filter for example in the report header (&variable). So tried the same as a define. The define:

Header referencedate / format DMYY

&referencedate

The thing is, when executing the report, in the filtersection the a new field (reference) date pops up asks for an entry. But whatever entry, it will not be reflected/written into the define (as the field is displayed in the report, but empty).

I would need this reference date to perform further calculations based on this very date (instead of e.g. "today").

many thanks for your support.

Try this, Date format :- 30/11/2017 for the prompted variable

ENGINE INT CACHE SET ON

-*COMPONENT=Define_car
DEFINE FILE ibisamp/car
 REFERENCEDATE/DMYY='&referencedate';
END
-DEFAULTH &WF_SUMMARY='Summary';
-DEFAULTH &WF_TITLE='WebFOCUS Report';
TABLE FILE ibisamp/car
PRINT REFERENCEDATE
BY CAR.ORIGIN.COUNTRY
BY CAR.COMP.CAR
ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT HTML
ON TABLE NOTOTAL
ON TABLE SET PAGE-NUM NOLEAD
ON TABLE SET SQUEEZE ON
ON TABLE SET EMPTYREPORT ON
ON TABLE SET HTMLCSS ON

The issue is not with the defined format (DMYY, YYMD, ...) more than you need to be consistent between what you enter in the prompt and what is defined in the DEFINE format.

Below will also work while you enter a YYMD value when prompted. The entered data and format must match.
Since you are using auto-prompting and trying to provide a date it's a little complicated because auto-prompting doesn't use a calendar (as far as I know).
So, in this case I suggest the below to at least specify the input format.
 REFERENCEDATE/YYMD='&ReferenceDateYYMD';

You can then enter the data as 2017-11-20 or 2017/11/20 or 20171120 with the same result while the components of the date are in the same order as the defined format and it's a valid date.

Thanks a lot for the hint. 30/11/2017 did not work. But 30112017 did in the end. Funny as usually 30.11.2017 as filter for other fields with the DMYY format works.

However the Report works fine now.
