This is a method used in the mainframe green screen era, when you have to position column names on the page in creative ways.

Does anyone know where to find documentation and examples?

thank you!

Yes, should work to some degree.
Haven't tried it in a long time.

Usually use <+0> to tag blocks of text for stylesheet items

I need to display a string of *** above column titles like country car sales returns net, profit etc. (if I created a mock up with the car file).

Is this WebFOCUS or MF Focus ?

I would usually use the stylesheet option HEADALIGN=BODY, and use spot markers and COLSPAN to align to the right place.

TABLE FILE CAR
HEADING
"*1*<+0>*2*<+0>*3*"
" "
PRINT COUNTRY
CAR
BODYTYPE
ON TABLE SET STYLE *
TYPE=HEADING, HEADALIGN=BODY, $
ENDSTYLE
END

Have you thought about adding to the column titles ?
