If I recall correctly, you can use !IBI.AMP.SOMEAMPERVARIABLE; as the default value in Composer.
If you set that variable in a fex that includes your HTML form (-HTMLFORM), that should do the trick.
If not, you can achieve the same with Javascript.

In the calendar control, There is a option to show the Current Date. If you select that option you will able to show the current date in calendar control.
