Ran into something that looks strange to me. Why is the value of &INPUT_TEXT1 'All' it should be '0'. '0' is not equal to ' '.
I am running this fex on 7.7.03.

-SET &ECHO = 'ALL' ;

-SET &INPUT1 = '0';
-SET &INPUT1_TEXT = IF '&INPUT1.EVAL' EQ ' ' THEN 'All' ELSE '&INPUT1.EVAL';
-TYPE &INPUT1_TEXT
-EXIT

-SET &ECHO = 'ALL' ;

-SET &INPUT1 = '1';
-SET &INPUT1_TEXT = IF '&INPUT1.EVAL' EQ ' ' THEN 'All' ELSE '&INPUT1.EVAL';
-TYPE &INPUT1_TEXT
-EXIT

This is a long known fact.

The way to distinguish between '0' and ' ', is to use the ASIS function.

Waz...

There seem to be two keys to this puzzle. Recall that amper variables are typeless, and are stored as character strings -- so, when comparing amper vars in a dialog manager -IF or -SET command, Focus needs to decide whether to perform a numeric or character comparison.

1. When comparing values, if one of the values resolves to a string that "looks like" a number, Focus performs a numeric (rather than character-string) comparison, and converts the other string value into a numeric value. (If the other value cannot be cast as a number, you get an error message.)

2. Dialog Manager regards a blank string as convertible to zero.
