[CLOSED] Switch Data Source Infoassist
Hi,

does someone know if the Switch Data Source Option is limited to 10 Databases you can see at one time? Is it expandable somehow?

8.1.05
Thanks

Thanks for unveiling that for me. I never thought of doing that in IA...

But, IDK about its limitations...

When I use the switch it lists the files that are know to this report but if I click on Add it shows me all the app folders in the app path defined to the domain I am using so I can choose any listed under each folder.

I am using WF 8.1.05 like you...

@FP Mod Chuck did you try with more than 10 Databases like HOLD's?

Or what do you mean with Add it?

Do your InfoAssist users often create more than 10 holds? If my users need to have access to that many hold files, I'd redesign the metadata. Just saying Smiler

Maybe I am misunderstanding I only had two hold files. Are you saying that you have more than 10 hold files and it only displayed 10? I was referring to the Data Tab under Data Source there is an icon next to the Switch one that says Add which will allow you to add a new data source.

From the help files / documentation -
quote:
Click Switch to select from the available data sources.
This option opens a drop-down list of all the data sources that have been added. You can choose which data source is currently active and being used to create new reports. You can also switch data sources by selecting a report that is using a data source that is different from the one that is currently active. The Resources panel will reflect the structure of the data source that you choose.

Yes, my users are creating more than 10 HOLD's....

They say it's absolutely necessary...

I would second Chuck's advice, open a case. I am not sure about the current support state of WF 8.1.05, but I am sure Chuck will jump in to advise Smiler

I've just created an example with 12 hold files using WF8.1.05 and, when venturing past the 10th file (including the original source(s)), the list only ever shows 10 files available.

What is more, is that the one that is "dropped" from the list appears to be random as the list does not appear to be sorted by file name.

The same build of a process in WF8.2.04 onwards shows all temporary files along with the original source.

8.1.05 is definitely still a supported release.
