The CIO here is interested in having WebFOCUS report off of Maximo tables. This is the inventory control software. They're hosted in Oracle so that's not an issue, but I was hoping someone could give me a thumbnail sketch on what tables to start with if I need to get an understanding of how the database structure works.

We have Maximo, but the data is extracted into our Data Warehouse just like (almost) everything else. We are very loath to report against operational data for fear of impacting the "live" systems. I have only seen the extracted data foramts and not the ETL. Sorry as I know that doesn't answer your original question.

Well, it's good news, because it means somebody is out there doing ETL against the data successfully.

Your ETL may not be doing too much manipulation. A list of core tables to go against could be very useful. I'd likely be able to connect the dots after that without too much difficulty.

Thank you for the response! If you can wrangle a list of table names I'd appreciate it, I'll mail you a pie, your choice of flavor.

We have customized Maximo for our industry. My DBA tells me that our in-house Maximo team worked with IBM/Maximo to get the table information necessary to extract the data. That's about all I've got as I don't have time to meet with our support team before my vacation begins. Smiler
