I am using WFservlet (Servlet) and stored my fex files on a network server. when I ran the report on my machine for more than 10 minutes, using a stored procedure it gave me a time out message as follow: "The CGI application exceeded the allowed time for processing. The server has deleted the process." The available space of the sequel database server where I stored my stored procedure was also maxed out by the temporary tables that were created from the stored procedure and caused it to crash. I've tested my report to run it with a small file (about 10,000 records) for less than 10 minutes, and it ran successfully without any timeout or problems, but when I tried to run it with a large file (about 1 million records), for more than 10 minutes, then it timed out and hung on the server that eventually caused the database server to crash. I've also tested the same stored procedure, with a large file, to run on a Crystal Report for more than 30 minutes successfully without any problems. It also doesn't make sense to me that if I run by WFservlet (Servlet) on the network and not on Web Server (IIS/apache) or using ibiweb.exe (CGI) on my machine then why it gave me the "CGI Script timeout" error message. I also have checked with the administrator for the timeout and session limit. The timeout limit was set for 30 minutes and session was set for 2 hrs, and the time limit was enough to run the report. If anyone has any answers or solutions that can help me out on this, I would appreciated very much.

Thank you!

Hi QDAO,

Has this issue been resolved? If not, the strong suggestion is to - open a case with Information Builders' server support team. Most likely the support team will guide you through SQL Optimization, once that’s done and it performs as fast as it can, one of 3 things will need to be done: 1. Recommend Deferred, 2. Schedule as a caster job or 3., increase the timeouts.

To open a case, you may either call at 1-800-736-6130, or access online at InfoResponse.

Hope this helps. Big Grin

Cheers,

Kerry
