Hi All,

Is there a way to execute a Report Caster API program from a FEX code or from a HTML page created through HTML composer.

Thanks,
Santhosh

If you have a secure site you can use a rest call (requires a license) if your dist is unsecure you can use DSTRUN. DSTRUN is documented in the Reportcaster Manual. Rest has it's own manual

Hi CLH,

Thanks for the information. DSTRUN can be used to execute the schedule which is already been created. I need to create a schedule through Report Caster API programs.

Kindly share your thoughts.

Thanks,
Santhosh

The Report Caster API Manual, beginning on page 30 tells you where to find sample files in your installed base and goes on to explain how to use them.

Hi Alex,

The manual explains prerequisites and other settings to execute the Java codes.

I am able to run the java codes from IDE or from console.

I would like to know if I can run it from FEX procedures.

Thanks
Santhosh

You should be able to by having the FEX write out your DSTRUN call.

You could definitely accomplish this if you license WebFOCUS RESTful Web Services and the REST adapter.
In that way, you can perform WebFOCUS functionality, like creating a ReportCaster schedule and Security Reporting, by using a Fex.

Does anyone have an update on this? We just got the REST license and I'm looking for an example of how to set up a FEX to run multiple RC jobs using REST calls.

Download the manual for 8.1.05. This is the first release where I've seen detailed documentation for Restful Web Services.
