Has anyone created a large PDF and created bookmarks in it or a table of contents? I have a large report that is compounded together and I would like to add a table of contents or bookmark page. Anyone done this before?

Thanks,
Jenn

I may be way off-base, but I think IBI is currently developing some automatic PDF bookmarking (based on BY fields, etc.). Again this may just be hearsay, but I think it might be available in a version later this year.

Unfortunately, I don't know of any method to do anything like that currently. It sure would be nice, wouldn't it?!?

Jenn... I have this exact need. Did you ever find a workaround for this? In speaking with IBI tech support, this is currently NOT a feature, but we;ve initiated a new feature request on it.

thanks, scott

Try this with WebFOCUS 7.1:

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT RCOST DCOST BODYTYPE
BY COUNTRY
BY CAR
BY MODEL
ON TABLE SET COMPOUND 'BYTOC 3'
END

It gives you a floating TOC showing 3 levels (COUNTRY, CAR, MODEL). The 'BYTOC n' controls the number of levels in the TOC.

I'm still checking to see what other formats (PDF, EXCEL) support this feature.

I think BYTOC will work in 5.3.2 and up.

Unfortunately, PDF Bookmarking is not yet supported in the current version of the product (7.1). However, we are working to get this in the product for release 8, which is scheduled for Summit time frame next year. It should work very similar to the HTML version (minus the floating) decribed in this thread and I'm sure it will utilize the same syntax. I hope you all can wait that long!

Any chance BYTOC is available in PDF on 7.6.x?

You can get a table of contents using the PDF Layout Painter in 7.6. It is not on BY phrases. It is on reports.

Jenn, please update your profile signature with your product suite, releases, and platform so that we may better help you. Forum participants are on many different platforms and releases and it helps to know that info when we reply.
