I want to deliver an ALPHA data file output option to users under MR deferred reports. v7.6.9.
I use this command in the fex: ON TABLE PCHOLD FORMAT ALPHA.
When I retrieve the report using the View button on the deferred reports list the dialogue shows this:

MIME Type: application/x-ftm
Description: UnKnown
Windows does not recognize this MIME type.

The window dialog shows FIND and SAVE button options and the SAVE filename is "WFSERVLET" with no file extension.

How do I associate this ALPHA output format with a known file type extention like .txt?

This was resolved.
This was our solution:

1. Save hold file.
2. Embed the hold file into HTMLFORM=TEXT The deferred report View button opens the file into the browser where the user can save-as a text file.

(We made the .txt filename dynamically unique to avoid user conflicts.) Here is sample code:

FILEDEF OUTPUT1 DISK ourfolder/&dynfilename.EVAL.TXT

TABLE FILE Our_File
PRINT FIELD1 FIELD2 etc...
BY FIELD1 NOPRINT
WHERE FIELD1 EQ 'YADA YADA'
ON TABLE HOLD AS OUTPUT1 FORMAT ALPHA
END

SET HTMLFORMTYPE=TEXT
-HTMLFORM BEGIN
!IBI.FIL.OUTPUT1;
-HTMLFORM END
