Could someone clarify the limit on the number of comparison values in a DECODE statement? I saw mentioned in the WebFOCUS Online Function Reference a limit of 39 to 40 lines depending on whether a final ELSE is used or not. However, I have already used DECODEs longer than 40 lines and they seem to work just fine. One caveat that I should point out is that my DECODEs are one pair of codes/values per line. I see in the reference that these can be packed tighter. Regardless, I still believe my DECODEs would extend longer than 40 lines. Also, is there a different limit if you contain the DECODE comparisons in a file?

The old limit was 32,000 chararacters as the
Max Decode.
It may still be in effect.
