Hi,

There is one field which had data with the underscore and we need to repace the underscores with the spaces. For eg:

Essbase_GL_Trans should be Essbase GL Trans
Union_Wage_Report should be Union Wage Report

I have found that we can use the CTRAN but not sure how to use it.

thanks.

Hi,
Here is an ex where I converted all the 'D's into '$'.

TABLE FILE CAR
PRINT
MODEL
COMPUTE X/A24= CTRAN(24, MODEL, BYTVAL('D','I2'), BYTVAL('$','I2'), 'A24');
END
-EXIT

In the DevStudio's bin directory there is a nice little help file, called something like function.chm, and if you click that, it will turn out to be the manual of the user written functions.
Alternatively, there also is the option in the gui to let the gui guide you through the syntax of a function when creating a define or compute.

Thanks.

How about removing the last 4 characters. the data contains the .fex at the end. I need to remove the .fex.

For eg:

Test1.fex should read test
testabc.fex should read testabc

Look at the STRREP (Replacing Character Strings) function:
STRREP (inlength, instring, searchlength, searchstring, replength, repstring, outlength, outstring)

Do your self a favour and check out the functions manual.

Use the search functions of the forum and documentation.

Another RTFM eh!

Seriously, does IBI produce properly printed and bound manuals any more? My PC FOCUS 6.0 manuals (copyright 1991) are like gold to me .... The Dev Studio online help is absolute crap.
