Hi All,

I had developed a launch page and a procudure for my report. It has generated a report for me. Then I have copied the code of the launch page and procedure to a word doc, and started modifying my code. Now I have replaced the original code from the word doc and when I execute the report, It is taking too long to generate the output.
I have waited for about 2 hrs without output and then I have cancelled the execution.

Please tell me what might be the problem.

It sure cannot be problem with load on server, because I run other reports and they work fine.

The biggest problem is using Microsoft Word as a programmer's text editor!

As well, don't you think "modifying my code" would have something to do with the change in execution time?

Add SQL tracing and SET XRETRIEVAL=OFF and rerun your code.

quote:
The XRETRIEVAL parameter previews the format of a report without actually accessing any data. This parameter enables you to perform TABLE, TABLEF, or MATCH requests and produce HOLD Master Files without processing the report.
Both the SQL traces and the XRETRIEVAL parameter are invaluable in debugging programs that "are taking too long".

I have actually replaced the modified code with the original code.

Did you try this?
