What do you do to backout an import. We have several application and each application has its own import. We can have multiple applications that are imported into the repository within a week so we cannot just backup the repository and restore it as it will wipe out all the imports not just that of 1 import. We cannot import the previous import as it wont replace new files with older ones.

Any Help, Suggestions, Guidance would be appreciated.

The only way I know to back out an import is to take an export of everything before you import. If the import goes bad you have to delete the content and then re-import the backup.

Thank you for using Focal Point!

If you have backups of the DB, then this may be an option.

We have built our own release system, that will auto backup any package we are releasing to an environment.

behind the scenes, its pretty simple, it just copies the import to the export directory and runs the export.

I think chuck hit the nail on he head but what a big pain.

You have do delete everything (Content, Portals, Security, and Server App Content) for that application. as the import does not provide that feature.

I'm sorry to have to add this comment, but that time was two years ago.

In a FocalPoint post some time ago, I did point out that the Change Management tool was woefully inadequate. No, I never opened a New Feature Request, because, in my humble opinion, I would be waiting a long time for this to bear fruit.

Well, I've created an NFR.

If we want this in the product, I would suggest we all request it.

Waz,

The Change Management window should have more information regarding the resources in the tree, to aid in resource selection. Information like Last Update Date and Last Update User would be invaluable. This would be used from the first day had it been included. It's not a 'nice to have' or a 'new feature request' candidate, I cannot believe it wasn't there from the beginning - how could the programmer not realize this?

This is in addition to backing out a deployment, and the ability to delete a resource in the target environment, and probably some other stuff...

I hope to be retired before this finally shows up.
