Hey all,
We have just run an upgrade from 8105M to 8201M and as painful as the overall process was, we are finally up and running on it.
Inside of App Studio however, I am getting the following error message;
(FOC32686) DIMENSTION VIEW DEFINITION CONFLICT IN CLUSTER AND BASE MASTER FOR 'FIELD NAME'
This error message doesn't pop up in InfoAssist when the chart is ran, and within App Studio, if I select to "rerun in new window" the chart will display just fine.
Has anyone seen this yet?

Larissa

Post the master file(s) and cluster file definitions so we can see if there is something amiss. That said... If it worked fine in 8105 and not in 8201 you probably should open a case and have techsupport address the issue.

Hey Chuck,
So I don't see where a description is listed for either the dimension or the active synonym that references the dimension that's throwing the FOC32686. I have descriptions in for each field within the dimension and those all tie out to each other

When I try to open the active synonym, I now get a FOC205 error that reads, THE DESCRIPTION CANNOT BE FOUND FOR FILE NAMED; DW_DATA/A_RPT_GL_FINANCIALS. When I click on that hyperlink to the FOC205, I get "No data description can be found for the file requested. Check the Master File Descriptions allocated or available, or the spelling of the file name. If you are in Screen Painter, type IGNore to continue, or any other input to return to TED.

When using a compare software for the two similar pieces, it looks like everything is in the active synonym that should be, and it all ties to the master dimension. The only difference is that in the active synonym, it doesn't have all the field names and descriptions, but has all the defines. That seems to be the way of all the active synonyms however. Right?

Let me know if you see anything, I'll also load a case and if they get back to me, I'll post their findings within this post.

Hi devr,
I went through all my case notes on this one and my final solution to fixing this, was to delete the active synonym and recreate it.

I was getting the error on a procedure that ran fine in our test environment, but not on our prod environment. After following the line by line code of seeing how things were referenced to the data fields, I noticed that one of our joined dimensions was named differently on the production side, than the test side.
Example:
TEST: A_ACCT_ALL_DLY.DATE_EFFECTIVE.DTE
PROD: A_ACCT_ALL_DLY.DTE_EFFECTIVE.DTE
So once the procedure was run on PROD, it was looking for DATE_EFFECTIVE.DTE and that exact join didn't exist.
I also noticed with the upgrade from 8105M to 8201, you cannot have two date dimensions mapped into a join with the same segment name. We have a bunch of date keys, but we had to go in and change the segment name from dim_dte on both joins to dim_dte_effective and dim_dte_posted (or whatever the specific date key was determining for the join)
