[CLOSED] Alert Assist test for existence returns "file doesn't exist'
I'm attempting to create an alert for a previously created report. However, running the test results in no output and a "file doesn't exist' message. I've included the full path address; IBFS:/WFC/Repository/NorthAmerica/InventoryTest.fex. The result tab is able to find the report, but not the test tab. What am I missing here? Thanks

Hi ModGuy31

First of all welcome to Focal Point. It is a great forum for getting answers to your development questions.

What version of WebFOCUS are you using? Is your test for the existence of a file or did you create a WebFOCUS test report? I am assuming the result is to run the InventroryTest.fex.

Hi Chuck

I'm using version 8.2.02. This is for testing the existence of a file.

The fully qualified path and filename is not for the fex but for a file like a .txt or some independent file to be placed in that file system directory to trigger the alert. You are referencing a file in the WebFOCUS repository which is not on the file system.

In that case, is there any way for me to set an alert for a report I've created? I'm confused about how I need to go about this as it's my first time working with an alert. Under the Result tab, I've included the Existing report. It looks like I need to include a file under the Test tab as well since I can't save the alert until I do. I'm just not sure what to put in there since the report I'm wanting to set an alert for is in the repository.

Most of the alerts I have done is to create a WebFOCUS Test which is an independent fex that has WHERE conditions against the data to determine if the alert should be sent instead of the existence of a file in the file system. The result is to run the fex you want to report the data people need to be alerted to.
