We are using WF 5.23
I would like to define a field to have the value of <td width="20%">
but WF doesn't like the left arrow symbol. Does anyone have any ideas on how to get around this. My goal is -- I need to define html table statements within WF code to feed into html using !IBI.FIL.name

DEFINEing or COMPUTEing an alpha field with the contents of '<td width="20%">' will work, there's nothing there to confuse WF. What your problem might be is that this field is not rendered by the web browser as you expected it to. Each and every element in a WebFOCUS report will be within a <td> </td> pair, including your <td width="20%">. It will be generated as <td><td width="20%"></td> which will not render as you expect it.

Perhaps if you tell us what you're trying to do we can be of further help.

Regards.

Hi Cheri,

If you are trying to put the output into a HEADER, FOOTER etc. then WebFOCUS will complain that it doesn't know of a field called TD.

There are ways around this but the efficiency depends upon the number of records that you are likely to have in your output.

Let us know what you are trying to do and we will assist as best we can.

See if this helps.

DEFINE FILE HOLD
QQ/A1 = '"';
OPT1/A80 = '<option value='||QQ||EC_CSTRING||QQ ;
OPT2/A55 = '>'||LOCATION;
OPT3/A160 = OPT1||OPT2||'</OPTION>';
END
TABLE FILE HOLD
PRINT OPT3
ON TABLE HOLD AS SYSSAVE FORMAT ALPHA
END
