It seems that almost nothing is working correctly when trying to build graphs on my end, I am trying to build a dashboard/document with multiple graphs and tables but graphs bug out.

Active document preview:

Active document output:

As you can see the output is all sorts of messed up.

HTML document preview:

Live preview now looks much better, however it's only showing 3 of the 5 series that would be in place as the field COUNTRY has 5 different values not just 3. What if I want to edit the color and or data labels etc. of the 4th and 5th legends?

HTML document output:

No output, you should be able to output a doc in HTML with a graph on it no?

HTML5 graph preview:

Now I am out of document mode and am just building the same graph in HTML5, live preview is displaying incorrect information still making it so I can't edit legend colors and more. Only difference is now it runs correctly.

HTML5 graph output:

HTML graph preview:

Now editing the graph in HTML not HTML5, live preview is displaying correctly now but still only giving me the option to edit 3 out of 5 legends. Output is also correct.

HTML graph output:

As far as I can tell, graphing in InfoAssist isn't working properly across the board (at least for me), I have tried different data sources and building off of hold files, same results. As stated at the beginning the objective is to build a document / dashboard with several tables and graphs but I can't get graphs to work properly in and out of document mode. Anybody have these issues or know how to fix any of them? Sorry for long post, thought I should cover all of it as it's all related to graphing.

Have you tried changing Use Sample Data to Data from Source?

Thanks for the reply!!

I can't believe I didn't think of that! So that fixes the live preview for both the HTML5 graph and the live document. However it still isn't allowing me to edit all data labels only 3 instead of 5. I tried putting a different field in the legend that has 18 different values and it only gave me the option to edit 9 of them, so it can display more than 3 but will only display some of the series not all of them? Still getting no output when changing the document format to HTML and still getting incorrect output when changing the document to active...

I've also found that I don't have the ability to edit data labels, changing the font size does nothing and changing the color ends up changing the color of the series?

One last thing, when setting a reference line the text is not displaying as it should. I would make separate posts for all these things but I think that would probably be even more annoying... I will post the pictures as links instead of in message so it doesn't take up so much space.

Should I be coming to the conclusion that graphing within InfoAssist just isn't working properly yet? I could make several graphs separately with a few caveats(data labels too small, reference line text misplaced, and the inability to edit all series) and email them out individually, but what my superiors really want is everything on one page. It seems like I should be able to output a document as just HTML opposed to active with a couple of graphs on it and be good but I get no output when switching to standard HTML.

Cimmerian,
I'm not an IA guy, so, maybe someone else will chime in.
If not, suggest opening a case, or, if you are going to Summit, bring this to the Expert Room.

I've actually been able to narrow down on a couple things, my records were defaulted at 10 when opening infoAssist after changing that to ALL I am able to see all series and edit them accordingly. And along with the data labels if you save the report after applying them and then come back in you can edit them again, not sure why... Thank you for helping me as much as you can!

UPDATE: Saving and reopening a graph does not always allow you to edit the data labels, only works sometimes...

Cimmerian,

It looks like a few things are now working for you. Sorry to see all the issues you are having though.

What version of WebFOCUS are you running - I see WebFOCUS 8.1 only.

I'll check into this as well.

Thank you for participating in the Focal Point Forum.

Tamra,

He is working with WebFOCUS 8.1.05. I can't remember whether we've addressed all the issues he was having, but one was that he had his record limit set to 10 instead of 500. When we reset it to 500 things would populate correctly for him finally. He just didn't notice that it was set to 10.
