Job Summary – The Data & Information Developer II is responsible for designing, developing, testing, and implementing corporate business intelligence & reporting applications that satisfy business requirements and meet performance expectations. The Data & Information Developer II is also responsible for analyzing and defining reporting requirements working with the business analysts and identifying the proper data sources. The Data & Information Developer II monitors the reporting environment, configures new reporting applications in the system, and does performance tuning for existing applications.
Major Responsibilities / Activities –
1. Works with departmental management & the team lead to maintain and support efforts to design, develop, and implement enhancements and upgrades of the online reporting (WebFOCUS) environment.
Provides technical assistance for the implementation of documented reporting applications and improvement strategies.
Reports problems to the software vendors, provides requested documentation, and tracks the problems to resolution.
Monitors the reporting server (iWay/EDA) proactively for any issues and addresses access and performance issues.
2. Performs analysis and design of new reporting requirements to understand the impact of the proposed modifications including the data sources and new data requirements and hardware and software requirements.
Analyzes requested reporting requirements and proposes solutions.
Develops alternative solutions as appropriate and reviews with the Manger/business areas.
Assists with the creation of logic charts, record formats, MFD (Focus Definition) and detailed programming specs.
Coordinates the creation or modification of databases with the DBA’s as required.
3. Performs reporting program development and testing to meet business requirements for new development and maintenance.
Uses efficient programming techniques to develop / maintain self service reporting applications that are flexible and scalable.
Develops/Creates data sources to connect to the databases to retrieve required data efficiently.
Works with the DBA’s to insure proper database indexing and optimized access paths.
Develops test cases and scripts, execute the test plans, and evaluate results.
Troubleshoots user technical problems and ensures quick resolution with proper documentation.
Analyzes and resolves testing issues and production problems as reported in the problem tracking system.
4. Works closely with business users to implement the proper technical solutions.
· Reviews business objectives and requirements with the Manager/business analysts.
· Provides input on alternative solutions when appropriate.
· Prepares prototypes of screens and reports for common understanding and agreement.
· Assists in training users of new and modified reporting applications.

Job-Specific Requirements:
Must have a Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, or related field.
2+ years of experience with Information Builders FOCUS, WebFOCUS, and Reporting Server (iWay/EDA) products and environment.
3+ years of systems analysis.
3+ years of experience using SQL / Relational databases (MS SQL Server and DB2).
1+ years of experience using HTML and JavaScript.
5+ years of experience in a structured programming environment.
Experience with mainframe applications development, VSAM, and DB2 file/table processing preferred.
Exposure to Object Oriented programming techniques.
Must be proficient in Microsoft Office and Visio.
Background in medical and financial data analysis in health insurance industry desirable.

The incumbent will work closely with the Manager, Data Management and the Data & Information Team Lead. The incumbent will also work closely with other divisional/departmental personnel. External to Data & Reporting, the incumbent will facilitate meetings with business users to determine information needs. External to Company, the incumbent will work with vendors, contractors, and other suppliers as required.
