We recently upgraded our Oracle database to 10g with multibyte character set (UTF 8). We are now testing being able to print those special characters on a report.

IBI has suggested all of the following NLS settings (Codepage), neither of which have worked:
137
65001 (Unicode)

We test by running a proc thru the Reporting Server console. It prints a ? in place of the special character.

Hi Renee,

I passed this one to our iWay people and here is the response: They need to first make sure the Oracle Client which resides on the same machine as the Reporting Server can print these characters. If they are testing an Oracle Client that is on the machine where Oracle is, and that machine is not the same machine as the Reporting Server machine, then they are not testing properly. If SQL*PLUS can return the data properly on the Reporting Server machine, then they need to configure the server with Unicode and make sure they start the Server with this code page. Also, the Browser they are testing with must support these characters.

Cheers,

Kerry
