Has this issue been resolved? There is a recent post related to SCD type 2 (added below).
From a search on Information Builders’ online knowledge base here are a few links that pertain to your question regarding implementing SCD type 2: Cannot insert or update rows to SCD tables
Loading of Slowly Changing Dimensions is covered in the DataMigrator Essentials course which was recently rewritten for Release 7.7.05.
Briefly the steps are
(0) Create a dimension table in you relational database and create a synonym for it.
(1) Open the synonym in the synonym editor with the Properties window open. For each column identify the SCD type (it's near the bottom of the list). Be sure that you have:
(blank) - key column of the table
Logical Key field - from the source table, such as a employee ID.
Type II - columns that you want to track history
Activation Flag and/or Begin/End Dates
(2) Create a data flow or direct load flow with your dimension table as a target. In target properties select load type of "Slowly Changing Dimensions."
