Hi Team,

I wonder if you can help me to not let Consumer type users input Manually Entered Measures? I notice that when I click a Measure name, this multi-drill menu comes up:

Operational Report...
Measure Breakout
Graph: Performance Trend
Graph: Actual vs Target Relationship
Graph: Performance Trend (Predictive)
Input Measure Values...
Related Properties
Measure Properties

Third from the bottom is the problem entry. My client does not want consumers to be able to enter data.

I'm hoping for a setting change that I haven't noticed yet, not a code customization. We've managed to avoid any custom code so far, and I'd love to keep that streak going.

Please advise.

Cheers,

Joey

Hi Joey,

I think you will be able to keep from doing any custom code.

You can control the ability for Consumer type users to allow or deny the input of Manually Entered Measures.

This is done in the Functional Roles area of PMF. Open up the Role that you would like to prevent this in (Consumer). At the bottom of this form you will notice that there are 5 separate rows. These control the ability to enter User Entered Measures.

(Actuals, Targets, Benchmarks, Forecasts and Stretches.)

You can change all of these to "No Access" and the users in the consumer role will not be able to enter values.

In the future we would like to hide the "Input Measure Values" drill down if the user does not have access for this or it is a Loaded Type of measure. I assume this would be a clarification users would like.

Thanks!
Mike

Mike's right of course. You can also set all components of the measures (e.g., Actuals, Targets, Benchmarks, Forecasts and Stretches) up for "Viewer" level access which essentially makes them read-only. You can limit any or all of these.

And if you have situations where SOME measures are owned by a user so you want to give them ability to enter JUST THOSE measures, you can use the option "Admin if Owner else Viewer" to make anything but what they have direct ownership of read-only. The point is the PMF security model is very fine-grained and gives you a lot of control over what people can do.
